This 1960s column dress is deceptively simple and the epitome of elegance for formal or bridal wear. It is crafted from white brocade silk with a subtle sheen and detailed from head-to-toe with intricate embroidery of roses. The floral composition shimmers with silver accents and peekaboo, cut-out petals, framed in silver and ivory thread. Panelled construction at the bust creates a corset-like fit. The faux wrap-around waistband curves down into the bottom hem, softening the silhouette. At the neck, a high-V shape is formed where the fabric from the shoulders crosses at the front. The rear has a slight V-back and a hidden centre zip fastening. Fully lined with a soft viscose acetate blended fabric.
The dress may have been bespoke made as it is unlabelled; the workmanship is excellent with fine fabrics used and many hand finished details. In excellent vintage condition, freshly cleaned with no flaws of any note. A suggested best fit for up to a UK size 8-10 or US 4-6.
